December 19, 1926 - October 6, 2021
Colin Frank Mason passed away October 6th, 2021, in White Rock at the age of 94. Colin was predeceased by his parents, Alice and Frank, wife of 69 years, Muriel in 2019, son-in-law, Greg, and sister, Dorothy. Colin leaves daughters Kathy, Rosalind, (Thomas), son Clive, (Chainie and son, Bill), grandchildren Christina, Beth, Lindsay-Anne and Wesley, and great-grand-children Maryn and Ronan, Gavin and Aubree, Aria and Brady, and Harrison.
Colin was born December 19th, 1926, at the Lathkil Dale Hotel in Derbyshire, England, where his parents were publicans. Most of his school years were spent in Keighley, West Yorkshire, where he attended Keighley Boys' Grammar School and excelled in academics and sports. While studying Engineering at Leeds University, Colin met Muriel, who was a student at a nearby college. They married in 1950 and three years later emigrated to Ontario, where their three children were born. Several moves later, including one back to England in the early 1960's, the family settled in North Vancouver in early 1967. As a Gas Engineer, Colin was employed by various companies throughout his career, spending his final working years at BC Hydro in Vancouver. A few years before they retired, Muriel and Colin moved to White Rock, where they enjoyed their ocean view home and for the next thirty years were involved in local church activities, the BC Hydro Retirees group, the Power Pioneers, and, for Colin, the Freemasons' Joppa Lodge. They also took many cruise vacations and liked playing Scrabble. Throughout his life, Colin was talented singer, joining the Vancouver Opera Society soon after moving to BC. He continued to sing at various venues around the Lower Mainland until he was well into his 80's. During their later years, Muriel and Colin were able to be together at the Evergreen Campus of Care, in White Rock.
A private family Memorial will be held at a later date. Memories and messages of condolence can be sent to victorymemorialpark.com
