SCHOLLAARDT, (nee Schouten) Cornelia Petronella

June 17, 1928 - June 4, 2016

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Oma, and Sister. Cornelia (Corry) was born on June 17, 1928 in Indonesia to Dutch parents. She also lived in Holland but her teenage years were spent in Indonesia during the war. After the war ended, her family moved back to Holland. In 1951, she married Isaac Schollaardt and in July 1953 they immigrated to Canada settling in Toronto to start their new life together. Shortly after their arrival, Mom discovered that she was pregnant, and their eldest daughter, Elizabeth (Lisa) was born in Feb. 1954. Their second daughter, Margaret was born in 1960. After their marriage ended, Mom remained in Toronto until moving to White Rock, B.C. in July 1983. The last chapter of her life was the happiest for Mom as she enjoyed the warmer climate and also got to see her grandchildren grow up. Mom is survived by her two daughters, Lisa (Brian) of Wolfville, N.S. and Margaret (Darren) of South Surrey, B.C., four grandchildren, Sean, Graham, Andrea and Julia and her dear sister Willy in Holland. She also leaves behind many friends and acquaintances who knew her from the Semiahmoo mall in White Rock. Mom was admired for her strength and determination to keep fighting, right to the very end! She was an inspiration and will be missed dearly by us all! We love you and know that you are safe in the hands of the Lord now. A private graveside funeral will be held for the family and a get-together will be arranged for her friends. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation or the charity of choice.
