March 31, 1941 - October 29, 2021
With great sadness we announce the passing of Del Jewell, on October 29, 2021, in White Rock, B.C. Del was born in Vancouver on March 31, 1941 and raised on a farm in South Surrey. He lived in Burnaby for the greater part of his working life, retiring to White Rock, for the last 13 years. Del will be remembered for his great sense of humour and keen wit. He enjoyed nature and being outdoors. He especially enjoyed camping with family and friends and, many happy holidays at The Glen, at Maple Falls near Mt. Baker. Del loved his apple trees, making wine and he mastered the art of baking homemade sour dough bread. He enjoyed all cooking and was always up for the challenge to try out new recipes. In his retirement he travelled extensively throughout the world with his wife. Some of his favourites were India, China and South Africa. He leaves to mourn his wife of 48 years Judy, his son Jonathan, his sister Kathy Dyck (husband Rob), his brother-in-law Don Gallaher and, numerous nieces and nephews. Del passed away peacefully, with his wife by his side after a year long battle with cancer. The family wishes to thank the Fraser Health palliative care team and the staff of the Melville Hospice, for all their hard work, support, care and concern, over the last weeks of Del's life.
A memorial mass will be held on Friday, November 26th, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Good Shepherd Church, in South Surrey, followed by interment at the Gardens of Gethsemani.
