HAYES, Denis Peter
Born January 24, 1930 in Scaynes Hill, Sussex, England, passed away peacefully in Surrey, BC on July 18, 2011. Predeceased by son Stephen in 1997. Survived by June, loving wife of 55 years; son Philip Hayes (Delena); daughter Nicola Anderegg (Andy); grandchildren Katie, Jessica, Brian, Trayton, Nicholas and Cassandra. Denis emigrated to Canada in 1968, where he worked as a mechanic and millwright for a variety of organizations, lastly at UBC Hospital. He had a flair for gardening and a passion for reading, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He was a proud member of Joppa Lodge #112; a Past Grand Royal Patron, Order of the Amaranth; he volunteered for many years with the Order of DeMolay, where he was a member of the Canadian Supreme Council.
A public Masonic Memorial Service will be held at the White Rock Masonic Hall, 15302 Pacific Avenue, on Saturday, September 10, at 1:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Masonic Cancer Car program or to the BC Diabetes Association.
