February 25, 1928 - November 3, 2019
With heavy hearts, Dora's family announces her peaceful passing away on November 3, 2019 at the age of 91. Dora was born in Barnsley, England, on February 25th, 1928 and moved to Baldock, England at the age of 8. This is where she married the love of her life John (Jack) at the age of 18. He filled her life with love, laughter, and dancing. Dora and Jack soon started a family and welcomed two children. In 1958, the family moved to St. Catharines, Ontario where they raised their family, spending weekends outdoors camping and swimming. Dora worked for many years in the pharmacy post office where she thoroughly enjoyed working with people. Retirement brought a move to White Rock where she loved the ocean, playing cards, eating ice cream on the beach, and being with her family and numerous friends. Dora was known for her amazing sense of humor and always being up for an adventure. She was a great listener and loved without reservation. Her kindness and compassion will be greatly missed.
Dora is predeceased by her husband of 45 years John (Jack) and sister Norma. She is survived by daughter Janice and son Keith (Carol) grandchildren Kathryn (Rowan), Lindsay, Candice (Brendan) and Cameron, and 4 great-grandchildren. It pains us to let you go, but it's time to let you dance amongst the stars with your beloved Jack.
There will be a memorial service on Friday, November 8, at 10 am, Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 28 Avenue, Surrey. A light lunch will follow at 11:30 am at The Sandringham, 1521 Blackwood Street, White Rock.
An internment will be held in St. Catharines, Ontario in the Spring.
