November 21, 1925 - June 30, 2021
Doreen Patricia Ferrier passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 30th 2021.
Predeceased husband: Thomas Boyle Ferrier 1964. Survived by her loving family, Son: Bruce (Andrea) daughters: Marna (Bill) and Orla Lee (Jim) her 8 Grandchildren whom she adored: Jamie, Paul, Sara, Rebecca, Shawn, Devin, Corey and Madison. Her 7 great grandchildren: Daylyn, Aaiden, Riley, Mason, Jaxon, Reece and Benjamin.
Born in Winnipeg on November 21, 1925 she was one of six children, predeceased are her two brothers John and Gordon Moore and sister Margaret. She is survived by her two sisters Betty and Sheila whom she loved dearly, and her nieces and nephews.
At the young age of 18 Mom left Winnipeg to join the Navy where she made some of her lifelong friends. After her stint in the Navy she relocated to BC where she volunteered for the Red Cross and attended the Emily Carr School of Arts taking design and colour and commercial art.
She met and married Thomas Ferrier; tragically he was taken in 1964. She went on to work for BC hydro as a draftsperson where she made more wonderful life long friends. She was an advocate for women's rights at BC Hydro and in 1954; proudly, she along with a group of women fought and won for women's equal pay.
Mom retired on the Sunshine Coast where she volunteered for meals on wheels and the heart and stroke foundation. She absolutely loved the Sunshine Coast, as did her children and grandchildren; her family and friends have the fondest memories sitting on the deck, jumping off the pier, and just soaking up the rays on the beautiful beach of Davis Bay. She enjoyed playing bridge, walks along the beach, chopping wood and just stoking the fire. She then spent the last 6 years in White Rock, she loved where she lived and being close to her family. Mom's saying was "We live in the most beautiful place in the world" and she often asked when looking out her window, listening to the clock bells chime "am I in heaven?"
We will all hold our beautiful memories in our hearts forever.
LOVE YOU MOM, GMA
