DORIS WHYTE

(nee FLYE)

Our beloved "Gramma", Doris Whyte, passed away peacefully, in her 99th year, on December 2nd, 2006 at Peace Portal Lodge in White Rock, B.C. Doris was born in Wales and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1910. The Flye family lived in Winnipeg, in the Weston area, for many years. Doris was predeceased by her parents, Alderman Thomas and Sarah Jane; her sisters, Phyllis and Mabel; her brothers, David, Leonard, Thomas, Edward and Sydney and her husband, Peter Whyte, whom she married in 1940. Doris will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jane (Peter) Rogerson; grandson, Kevin Blatch (Michael Burgio); granddaughter, Kimberley (Martin) Pillkahn; great granddaughters Christina and Amanda Pillkahn, all of Surrey, BC; nieces Judy (Tosh) Hayashi of Halifax and Pennie (John) Lesow of Pt. Roberts, WA; nephews Brian (Jody) Flye of Edmonton and Glenn Flye of Winnipeg and their families.

In her earlier years, Doris was a gifted soprano soloist, who sang in several church choirs, competed successfully in the Manitoba Music Festival and was often requested to sing at events in Winnipeg. Doris was a caring, kind, and generous person, who always put the needs of others, especially those of her family, ahead of her own. Above all, she cherished and loved each and every member of her family. Doris will be greatly missed and ever remembered by her family and will live forever in our hearts.

Special thanks to Dr. David Anderson and to the caring and compassionate Staff of Peace Portal Lodge, all of whom contributed greatly to Doris's quality of life during the past two years. In keeping with Doris's wishes, cremation has taken place and interment will take place, at a later date, in Winnipeg at Brookside Cemetery. A private memorial service for immediate family has been held. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of one's choice, in

Doris's memory, would be appreciated.
