August 11, 1930 - September 15, 2020
The children of Joan Hoyles are very sad to announce that our beautiful, intelligent and vibrant mother passed away during the early morning of Tuesday, September 15 in Peace Arch Hospital.
Joan was a very gracious and talented woman who loved a good book, was an amazing fabric artist, and enjoyed good conversation with her many friends and beloved family. Her family was the most important thing in her life.
She was very involved with many organizations in the White Rock area; PEO Sisterhood, Canadian Federation of University Women, and the Peace Arch Quilters. Joan enjoyed her time living at Oceana PARC senior's residence.
She met many new friends and was very impressed with the care and attention she received while living there.
Joan is predeceased by her parents Richard(Dick) and Mabel Slinger, husband Herbert Allen (Bud) Hoyles.
She is survived by her beloved sister Judy Hoffner in California, children Susan (Ken), Nancy (Neil), and Mark (Nancy), grandson Daniel (Jackie), great-grandchildren Dani and Kailey, niece Jill (Jerry) (Tori, Carly), nephew Richard, and many more relatives in Canada and the US.
In lieu of flowers please feel free to make a donation in Joan's name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family will be planning an intimate family gathering in honour of Joan at a later date.
