Kennett, Dorothy Marie (nee Brister) of White Rock passed away peacefully on February 4th at the age of ninety-nine. She will be forever missed and fondly remembered by her sons Randy (Barb) and Drew (Sree), daughter Linda, grandchildren Jesse, Jaden, Aaron, Michael & Christina and numerous other relatives.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Ron (1998) and her three siblings Charlie (1978), Alice (1995) and Don (1998).
Dorothy was born on the family farm near Estuary, Saskatchewan in 1921 and grew up in a number of small towns in south west Saskatchewan. After high school Dorothy attended nursing school at the Grey Nun's Hospital in Regina, graduating in 1945. Shortly after leaving Grey Nun's Dorothy moved to Vancouver and worked for many years at Shaughnessy and St. Vincent's hospitals.
She married Ron Kennett in 1959 and after creating their family, Ron and Dorothy finally settled in White Rock in 1969. In her senior years, after raising her family, Dorothy became an avid naturalist and traveller, enjoying wildlife and nature both locally and throughout the world.
In her seventies she became a grandmother and focused her energies on her grandchildren, all of whom she adored. Dorothy began slowing down in her nineties and finally moved from the family home into the wonderful care of the staff at Evergreen Campus of Care in White Rock in 2017 at age 95. After three plus years at Evergreen Dorothy passed away peacefully on February 4th with her family nearby. She will be forever missed and fondly remembered.
