Sept. 4, 1917 - Dec. 22, 2008

It is with great sadness and much love that the family announces the passing of Eleanor Hoy on December 22, 2008 in White rock, B.c. at the age of 91 years.

Eleanor will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 67 years John; her sons Bob (Sheila), Jack (Barbara) and Dave (Diane), Eleanor's seven grandchildren; Dave (Brandi), Michael, Jennifer (Ian), Kelly (Natalie), Andrew, Kevin and Christa, and her three great-grandchildren; Hudson, Kingston and Evan. Eleanor will also be sadly missed by her sister and best friend Mary (Wilse)Jessee.

Eleanor was born in Brandon Manitoba in 1917. She grew up living in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, where she met the love of her life, John and was married in 1941. Eleanor and John lovingly raised their boys in Calgary, North Vancouver and Edmonton before retiring to White Rock, BC. Eleanor was a bright star to her family and friends. Love, family and community service were the most important values in her life. It is the legacy she leaves.

Over the years, she enjoyed her volunteer work in the community. At the United Church she was a Sunday school teacher, President of the United Church Women (WA) and church secretary. In White Rock she was an executive member of both the Red Cross and the Peace Arch Hospital Auxiliary and supported John in his work with Semiahmoo House. She volunteered countless hours working at the hospital auxiliary superfluity shop.

All who know Eleanor will remember her as an avid sports fan, especially of her beloved Blue Jays, not to mention the Canucks and the Lions.

A celebration of Eleanor's life will be held at 1pm on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at First United church, White Rock, B.C. If desired, donations in Eleanor's memory may be made to First United Church in White Rock or the Peace Arch Hospital Auxiliary.
