January 31, 1936 - December 6, 2024
Eleanor was born in Trail, BC, one of seven siblings. She and her family lived in Vancouver until Eleanor was 16 when she moved to Winnipeg where she and her husband Tom raised their two children, Marianne and Tommy. Their life was full of friends, family, socializing, travel, curling, and bridge before moving to Calgary in 1970.
Eleanor had a reputation as a great hostess and cook, a domestic goddess, during her stay-at-home mom years, so when she and Tom moved to White Rock in 1980, it made sense that the Coffee Mill was a big hit when she opened it in the Semiahmoo Mall in 1983.
She ran the Coffee Mill for 36 years, always offering her many regular customers good coffee and tea, and incomparable home-made foods. She loved her customers.
Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Tom and will be remembered always by her daughter Marianne, her son Tommy (Aoddy), her grandchildren Paul (Nathalie), James, and Paige (Carter), her great-grandson Cyrus, her surviving sisters Lena, Dolores, and Julie, and many nieces and nephews.
