GARDNER, Elfrieda (Freda), (nee Saumer)

Born June 14, 1921 in Denzil, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Tuesday, February 26th, 2013 at Weatherby Pavilion Peace Arch Hospital. Survived by her husband of 54 years, Frank, brothers Dave & Lyle, sisters Anna, Willa & Edna; daughters Lois (Don) & Shaunid (Merle); grandchildren Peri, Lee, Erin, Kailee, Breanne, Cody and seven great-grandchildren. Freda was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion - Crescent Beach, Branch No. 240 and the Peace Arch Rebekah Lodge. She was an active volunteer with Girl Guides of Canada, Meals on Wheels and various community groups and events. Freda will be remembered for her creativity and passion for sewing, painting, ceramics, beading, needlework; and if you ever needed a beautiful baby set, she could have it knitted within days. We will never forget the most amazing family feasts she prepared with her rosy cheeks and infectious chuckle. Services will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013, 10:00am at Victory Memorial Park, 14831-28 Avenue, Surrey, BC. A reception will follow at Concord Retirement Residence, 15869 Pacific Avenue White Rock, BC. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
