September 11, 1937 - August 23, 2024
It is with both sorrow and celebration that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Elva (Betty) Johnson, who left us suddenly and peacefully on August 23, 2024, the birthday of her beloved late husband, Bud. Betty was born in Peace River, Alberta, on September 11, 1937.
Betty was a force of nature - a remarkable woman with a vibrant personality, an infectious sense of humour, and an incredible knack for knitting that kept her friends and family warmly dressed and smiling. Her spirit was as colourful as the yarns she worked with, and her creations will be cherished for years to come. Betty and her husband, Bud volunteered their time in retirement to the Peace Arch Hospital Auxiliary and numerous other fund-raising activities over the years.
A trailblazer in her own right, Betty was among the first female bank managers for BMO in British Columbia. Her impressive career was marked by her unyielding work ethic and her remarkable ability to thrive in a male-dominated field. Betty's professional success was a testament to her resilience and determination.
Betty is lovingly remembered by her two sons, Doug (wife Tammy and grandchildren Tim and Stephanie, Ted (wife Beth and grandchildren Emily and Zoe), brother Lawrence and sister Susan, who carry forward her legacy of strength and laughter. Her family, friends, and all who knew her will miss her deeply.
We invite you to join us in celebrating Betty's life and legacy on October 20, 2024, 1-3 pm at the White Rock Lawn Bowling Club, 1079 Dolphin Street, White Rock B.C. Betty spent many joyful hours there, first as a bowler and later as a devoted bridge player. It is only fitting that we gather in this special place to share memories, laughter, and stories of her remarkable journey.
Betty's presence in our lives was a true gift, and while we grieve her loss, we also honour and remember the vibrant, loving woman she was.
