Esther Jeanette Hockley (Veillette)
November 8, 1922 - March 13, 2013
Esther passed away peacefully the morning of March 13, 2013 at the age of 90 years. She was born in Lac La Biche; and moved to Edmonton where she met and married Jim Hockley in 1969 helping him raise three of his four children - Gwen (Alan) Howard, Janet (Marvin) Smith, Jim (Sharon) Hockley. Jim and Esther moved to White Rock to enjoy a snow-free retirement. Jim passed away in 1992 and Esther continued to live in her home until 2006 when her health began to decline. She is also survived by Tanya (Henk) Hockley, nieces, Lynda Veillette and Jennifer, nephews Ernie, George and Dwayne Locke, Blaine and Maurice O'Hara, and George and Jim Veillette. Esther had a very soft spot in her heart for animals and donated many hours of her time supporting animal shelters wherever she lived. If one so desires, donations in Esther's name can be forwarded to an SPCA in your area. Our family will be forever grateful to Joan Barnett and to the Haven Hill Retirement Centre in Penticton for taking such good care of Esther in her final years.
