Ethel Grant

April 5, 2003

Passed away in her 95th year on Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Peace Arch Hospital after a brief illness. She is survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law; Dorothy and Jim Lyder, and their family; nieces Margaret (Greg) Holmes with their daughters; Kimberly and Shannon, Pat (Gordon) Robertson and nephew Don (Sharon) Lyder with their family Nyree and Jason. Ethel is predeceased by her husband, the former Lt. Col. Don Grant. Don's family has kept very close to Ethel and she will be sadly missed by Genie Cox and her family, Craig (Krysteine), Chad (Mona) and Meghan and Judy (Bob) Kirk and their family Sam and Jennifer. Ethel was also predeceased by both her brothers, Tom (Eleanor) Whitby and Walter (Helen) Whitby. Their children Carolyn (Warren) Standerwick and Barbara (Gary) Barnes live on and share in our sorrow. Ethel was a very social person and living more than nine decades means she also survived many, many good friends and leaves behind many others to mourn her passing. We are all proud to have known this incredible lady and hope you will say a special prayer for her tonight. We thank all the caregivers who enhanced Ethel's quality of life over the past few years. These include employees of Westminster House, Berkley Unit of Peace Arch Hospital and most recently Peace Portal Lodge. The family will have a private gathering to share our sorrow and fond memories. Flowers are gratefully declined. Ethel's charity of choice was the White Rock Hospice Society as well as the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation.
