MICKELSON, Evelyn Ruth "Evie"

Evelyn Mickelson (nee Cherry) passed away peacefully at the age of 97. Predeceased by her husband, Arthur and her seven siblings. Survived by many nephews and nieces both in Britain and Canada. Evelyn was a member of the Women's Royal Naval Service during World War II. She came to Canada in 1948 to join her family in Vancouver, where she began her career with the Federal Government-Income Tax Department, working until retirement in her mid-sixties. She and her husband moved to White Rock where Evelyn volunteered in many care homes for over twenty years, sharing her musical gift as a pianist. Evelyn was devoted to her family throughout her life and stayed connected to each of her brothers, sisters, nephews and nieces. We will miss her love, and take consolation in how much she touched our lives. A special thank you to the staff at Morgan Place and Dr. David Fletcher for their care and kindness over the past few years. Memorial Service to be held January 22, 2015 at 2:00 PM at St. Mark's Anglican Church, 12953 20th Ave., Surrey, BC.
