Florence Gertrude Hassell (NeeNee) passed away peacefully on July 8th, 2019 in her Ocean Park home at the age of 94.
Florence was predeceased by her husband Robert, brothers, Roger, Ralph, Harvey and sisters Blanche and Yvonne. Florence leaves behind her beloved daughters, Diane (David), Sandra (Chuck) and Shirley (Peter).
Florence was affectionately known as Grammie to her grandchildren Jocelyn, Lindsey (Ricardo), Lisa (Matt), Laura (K.D.), Robbie and Spencer and was Great-Grammie to Dominic, Olivia, Brenna, Claire, Cody and the newest arrival, Sultaan.
Florence was born and raised in the Hazelmere Valley. She married Bob at the age of 21 and soon after began her own family who became the focal point of her life. She and Bob were married for 65 years until his death in 2012. She was always ready and willing to help with her unwavering enthusiasm, no matter how daunting or difficult the task.
Florence spent many happy years flying in their plane, fishing, boating and travelling in their motor home. She enjoyed her winters golfing in Palm Desert. She loved gardening and enjoyed countless hours tending to her vegetables and then sharing them with family, friends and neighbours. Florence will be deeply missed by all those who loved and cherished her. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation.
