FRANK MUIR

November 10, 1916 - June 22, 2008

Frank Muir passed away peacefully in Peace Arch Hospital. Frank was born in Shanty Bay, Ontario. He met Gladys his wife while in college in Toronto. Frank and Gladys spent 2 terms of service with an interdenominational mission in west China from 1939 to 1951. Following another term of service with the United Church in Japan, they returned to Canada in 1962, and Frank served as minister in Fleetwood, Green Timbers and Sullivan United Churches. He then joined the Professional Development program for teacher education at Simon Fraser University. He had a 10 year teaching career at While Rock Jr. High, Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret senior high schools, teaching English, anthropology, and drama. Upon retirement in Ocean Park, Frank was instrumental in setting up the Semiahmoo Bay Seniors' Drop-In Centre, and participated in the White Rock Singers, the White Rock Community Orchestra, and the White Rock Historical Society. He is survived by Gladys, his wife of 66 years, 2 sons, Phil (Peggy) and Doug (Bryn), 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
