FRED ARNOLD SCHIEFKE

1917 - 2008

Fred Arnold Schiefke passed away peacefully into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the age of 91 years.

He was born and raised in Fraser Mills, B.C. and was employed in the lumber industry for 50 years.

Fred served overseas from 1942 - 1945 in W.W.2 with the Canadian Scottish Regiment in England, Belgium, France and the Liberation Army in Holland.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gladys; 2 daughters, Linda Minaker (Glen), Maureen Hoet (Romain); 3 grandchildren, Mathew Boyd, Holly Kania (Patryk), Ben Hoet; 4 great grandchildren, Ethen and Rilea Boyd, Sydney and Nikolas Kania; brother Albert and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Fred's life will be held at Peace Portal Alliance Church, corner of 152 St. and King George Hwy., Surrey, B.C. at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2008.

A special thank you to Dr. G. Gibbings, Dr. J. Pretty and nursing staff of Langley Memorial Hospice for the wonderful care given to Fred. Thank you also to our family and friends for their prayers, visits, love and support shown to Dad during his illness.

A private family cremation burial will be held at a later date.
