Born July 21, 1945, passed away at Peace Arch Hospital on April 21, 2023 at 1 pm.
His daughter, Jessica Bruhn, attended to him in his final days. Rick was a school teacher who taught multiple elementary and high school subjects, as well as music, which continued to be a great passion of his until his death.
He was heavily involved in the White Rock Orchestra and Mary Cullen South Fraser Concert Band, creating a fiddle group and a ragtime jazz band called "Storyville Jazz" in his 60's.
He began his teaching career in BC in 1990 while raising his child with her mother, in Mission and then Abbotsford. Before his endeavours in higher education, Rick joined the reserve Canadian Armed Forces as a musician in his mid-twenties (1971), and travelled around Canada and some of the United States performing music.
