BORJANCIC

Gabriel Borjancic, who was born in Sedlo Slovenia December 25, 1927 and lived his youth in Algrange France passed away Jan. 18 at 7:20 a.m. at his residence in South Surrey. GABE as he was fondly known lived an adventurous life leaving France after WW II and joined the merchant marine. He traveled extensively and settled in Canada in 1953. Gabe was a confirmed bachelor who worked in the mining industry, helped build dams, and served in the Canadian Army. He worked for many years in the fishing industry and was the captain of the troller "Anna B" which he had built for him in 1967 and which he operated for many years. He was an avid gardener and lived in Vancouver, Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge. He moved to South Surrey five years ago and was able to live without substantial assistance until three months ago despite having several strokes. He is survived by his nephew Alain Torre of Thionville France and his family.

A celebration of life for Gabriel will be hosted at unit 1-14909 32 Avenue, Surrey from 1 pm. to 4 pm on Sunday January 25, 2009.
