October 10, 1952 - July 10, 2024

Gayle left her life on earth far too soon, at only 71 years of age, but we trust her energy will be returned and valued in the next dimension...heaven for some.

Gayle was born in Edmonton, Alberta. Family moves took her to BC, then Manitoba and back to BC. She completed school in White Rock, BC; her BA at UBC and her MA/PhD at UWO in London, Ontario. This was followed by a post doctorate year in Kitchener/Waterloo.

She excelled at academic study and was a practicing clinical psychologist for a career that spanned the years from 1981 to 2023. Gayle loved her work and only retired when health issues demanded full time attention.

She was sought after for her clinical skills and energy work. She always had a waiting list of clients wanting to see her for counselling. Gayle's work with abused women was instrumental in supporting a change to the statute of limitations for the reporting of sexual abuse.

Health issues were a challenging part of Gayle's life. She dealt with each new challenge with grace. Part of her strength was in living in the moment, dealing with problems as they occurred, not looking too far ahead.

Living in Kitsilano and then Ocean Park gave Gayle an appreciation for neighbourhood or "village" life styles. She was a well recognized figure in the neighbourhood, walking her precious Bella, an elegant standard poodle with a glorious mane of hair. Gayle's greatest wish was that she and Bella could go out of this life together. It is up to us now to care for Bella until they are reunited.

Gayle was predeceased by her parents, Isabel and Robert Way.

She is mourned by: her siblings- Sandra (Chris), Don (Lonnie), and Heather (Ben); by her nieces and nephews -Jes, Mike, Patrick and Evan; by her great nieces-Olivia and Maya; and by her dearest friend, Paulette.

There is no service due to Gayle's wishes, but a friends and family gathering will be planned for a later date.

Should you wish to make a donation to a charity in Gayle's name, please consider Operation Eyesight, the Canadian Cancer Society, the SPCA or Transition house in your locale.
