Genevieve Young

September 10, 2003

A special lady, our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother (Gran Gen), died peaefully with family at her side on Wednesday, September 10, 2003. Predeceased by her husband Al and her son Scott, she is survived by her daughters Wendy - White Rock, Margot (Robin) - Calgary and son Gil (Diane) - Tsawwassen, her sisters Ellie (Jim) and June, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

Genevieve was born in Assiniboia, Sask. and lived most of her life in Saskatoon. She was involved in CWL, K-ettes, St. Paul's Hospital Women's Auxiliary and loved to golf at Riverside. Her move to White Rock 13 years ago gave her the "Laguna" vista Genevieve and Al had enjoyed so much. Living closer to her family on the coast was a great joy in her life. Mom's life was filled with lots of love, laughter, great memories of Sunday family dinners, and a special time at Tofino. Her enthusiasm, humour and outgoing personality garnered many special friendships not only in Saskatoon but also with the dear friends at Newcomers.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Palliative Care Unit at Peace Arch Hospital with special thanks to Dr. Spangehl, and nurses Leslie, Naoemi and Lorraine, the support from her neighbours and also Edna, Mom's much loved home care support worker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at Peace Arch Hospital or a charity of your choice. The service took place on Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at Star of the Sea Church in White Rock.
