KRAUSE, Gertrude Rose (nee Zilke)

October 17, 1927 - March 6, 2017

Gertrude was born October 17, 1927 in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. She moved to Sapperton (New Westminster) with her parents when she was a young teenager where she met the love of her life at age 16, Adolph Krause. They were married three years later at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Vancouver, and resided in the Metro Vancouver area their whole lives.

Gertrude was an active member of her community and of Ebenezer Baptist Church. She volunteered as a Sunday School teacher, a church Deaconess, worked with the Ladies Missionary Guild, and was a leader in the Senior's group. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality she was loved by many.

Her life was as beautiful as the flowers she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. At age 89 she quietly and peacefully departed this life Monday March 6, 2017 in White Rock, British Columbia, with family at her side.

Gertrude is survived by her son Wayne (Allison, nee Parsons) of Tsawwassen, daughter Karen Fisher of Abbotsford, eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, as well as a host of relatives and friends including her four devoted sisters and a loving brother. She was preceded in death by her husband Adolph of 54 years, daughter Judy Zulke of Ladner, son-in-law Gary Fisher of Abbotsford, and five siblings.

The family of Gertrude would like to give our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Weatherby Pavilion One whose compassionate professional care was exceptional. Our deep gratitude goes also to her long time family physician, Dr. Glenn Anderson of White Rock.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 pm on Saturday March 18, 2017 at Ebenezer Baptist Church,

6858 Fraser St, Vancouver, with a reception following.
