WHYTE, Gordon Wilson (Spanky) passed away March 2, 2008 at the age of 78 in Peace Arch Hospital. Gordie was born in Vancouver August 15, 1929. He is survived by his loving wife Kathy of 37 years, his sons Gord (Evelyn), Tom (Pat), Jim (Louvi), and his brother Bill (Eleanor). Predeceased by his daughter Shannon and his brother Jack. He was a loving grandpa to Matt, Scott, Jeff, Jennifer, Sean, Mark, and David. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He enjoyed numerous summers on his boat at Pender Harbour. "Big Gord" loved to fish, golf, play his piano and the odd game of crib. He also rarely missed a Friday playing pool with the firemen. He started his own company, Coast Vari Temp in 1971 and along with his partner Bob Logan established a very successful business. Gordie will be in the happy memories of his family and his many friends. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses in Emergency and ICU at Peace Arch Hospital for their professionalism and support. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday March 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 - 28th Avenue, Surrey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to "Peace Arch Hospital and Community Health Foundation-Partners in Caring".
