von LOESZL, Gudrun Margarete Annerose

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother Gudrun Margarete Annerose von Loeszl (née Schuetze). Gudrun was born on the 16th of June, 1928 in Malapane Silesia Germany. She studied to be a registered nurse near Hamburg. Here Gudrun met her soulmate and future husband Dr. Dietrich von Loeszl, who was one of her patients in the hospital. Together they raised five children and lived by the motto “Peace starts at home”. Later came nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was a homemaker and volunteered helping the handicapped, seniors, and the less fortunate. They also lived in Den Haag, Holland for two years. On January 9th, 1982 they immigrated to BC, Canada with their two youngest sons. Here they met up with family from both sides, enjoyed their retirement, and made many new friends. Gudrun was predeceased by her husband of 52 years in September 2003, two weeks before his 87th birthday. She was very social, musical, generous, and she loved her dogs. She was blessed with good health and a positive outlook on life. She was fearless, strong willed, and always in charge of her destiny throughout her entire life until the very end. Thank you to all the staff of Peace Arch Hospital (Acute Care for Elders) for making our mother's last few days comfortable and respecting her last wishes.
