Gwyneth Leona 'Lee' Smith

February 27, 2021

February 21, 1943 - February 27, 2021
Gwyneth Leona Smith (nee Blundell) affectionately known as Lee was born on February 21, 1943 to the late Maurice and Gwyneth Blundell in Vancouver, BC. She was the oldest of 7 children. Lee's pride and joy was her family and her door was always open to everyone who came to visit her.
She volunteered at the schools and in the community wherever she lived. She left us too soon with so much still to say. Lee passed away on February 27, 2021 at the Kelowna General Hospital of Covid 19.
She married Richard (Dick) Smith on April 5, 1961 where they had 5 children that she raised with kindness and understanding. She dedicated her life to ensure her children lived in a home of strong family and personal values. The family home was in South Surrey which is now an extension of Redwood Park where so many family gatherings and other events were held.
She leaves behind family to cherish so many wonderful memories, her loving husband Dick, her 2 daughters Carolyne (John) Salkeld and Dawn (Francis) Beaton as well her 3 sons David, Richard (Katja) and Scott (Kirsten) Smith. Life got even better with the birth of 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who called her Gramma-Gramma.
She will be deeply missed by her 11 grandchildren, Candice (Jeff) Wilson, Amanda (Dave Hannusch) Salkeld, Hunter, Mackenzie and Courtney Beaton, Chelsea (Kaleb) Brookes, Carson (Jessica Lion) Smith, Emma Cryer-Smith, Ensio Smith, Tyler and Joshua Smith.
Gramma will be reunited with her first grandson Matthew Salkeld who had predeceased her in 2013.
The youngest of them all will be reminded of how much their Gramma-Gramma loved them in the special knitted blankets she made for each one. Benjamin and Geneva (Eva) Wilson, Adeline Hannusch, Kinslee Brookes and Auden Smith.
Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
Mother, you left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, although we cannot see you, you're always at our side.
