Hans Wetten

Born in 1915 in Rjukan, Norway. Hans passed away on February 15, 2007 at the Peace Arch Hospital at the age of 92. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 2002, and is survived by daughter Carole, his wonderful friend Ellen Anderson, son-in-law Robert, grandchildren Michael and Robin and sisters Caroline Williams and Ose Marie South.

Hans' family immigrated to Canada in 1927 and resided in Bassano, AB and Yahk, BC before making their way to Vancouver. Horse wrangler, freight truck driver, Bowing machinist during

WWII, commercial fisherman and a checker with the BC Maritime Employees Association - Hans worked hard at a wonderful variety of jobs. Retirement saw hime and Margie exploring all corner of BC by trailer and RV. He loved the outdoors and being 'on the road'. A self-educated and well read man, Hans impressed all who knew himwith his keen interest in local politics and world affairs. He way always concerned for the welfare of others, and in trying to make the world a better place.

Hans was a warm, loving and generous person, a wonderful Dad and a true 'gentle man' - he will greatly missed. A memorial service at Evergreen Manour will be held on Thursday February 22 at 2pm, and his ashes will be interred at Ocean View by the family at a later date. Thanks go to the 2nd floor nursing staff at PAH for their care and compassion during Hans' last days.
