Harold Oakley Plain

Passed into the presence of his Lord at Surrey Memorial Hospital on January 14, 2004. Predeceased by his parents Charles and Lucy Plain and Kathleen, his wife of 57 years. Harold is survived by his son Dr. Brian (Gloria) Plain of Victoria; granddaughter Suzanne (Christopher) Hill of Toronto and great grandson Zachary Hill; granddaughter Jennifer (Samuel) Keator of South Londonderry, Vermont and great granddaughters Rebekah and Marina Keator; grandson Matthew Plain of Beirut, Lebanon. Harold will be fondly remembered by Al and Connie Webster , Jim and Jean Bradley, Pat and Glace Bulmer and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Harold was born in Calgary on September 30, 1912. After completing high school he joined the British American Oil Company, working as a field auditor in Alberta and Saskatchewan until his enlistment in the RCAF. Following his discharge in 1946, he accepted a position as manager of Northern Hardware in Dawson Creek. From 1950 - 1952 he was Secretary Treasurer of the Fort St. John School District. Returning to Calgary in the summer of 1952, Harold worked for Revenue Canada until his retirement in 1974. Over the succeeding years Harold and Kay lived in Escondido, California and Victoria, B.C. before settling down in Surrey. Funeral service will be held in the chapel of Fraser Heights Funeral Home, 14835 Fraser Highway, Surrey, B.C. at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2004. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Lawn Cemetery, Surrey, B.C.
