HENDERSON, Helen C. (nee Brown)

Helen's remarkable spirit will be lovingly missed by her daughter Diane Young (Michael Dean) and 3 sons Barry Henderson (Issy Snelgrove), Don (Marie) Henderson and Terry (Julie) Henderson, and their extended families. Helen Brown was born in Calgary where she later worked as school secretary until marrying Harry Henderson in 1936. After 60 years of marriage, Harry predeceased Helen in 1996 in White Rock, BC. Helen & Harry raised their family and built lifelong friendships in Edmonton, Regina and Rosetown, but primarily Saskatoon where Helen again served as school secretary at Brevoort Park Public School until their retirement in 1974 to Mill Bay on Vancouver Island, and later to White Rock. The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Nanaimo Seniors Village where Helen lived out the last 5 years of her life, and where her sunny disposition and tenacious spirit will long be missed. At Helen's request, a funeral service will not be held - cremation is being provided by First Memorial Funeral Services, 1720 Bowen Road, Nanaimo, BC, V9S 1G9. The family will gather at some future date to celebrate and pay tribute to "Mom" for her life of 103 years - a life well lived.
