In loving memory ~
Helmut passed away peacefully, with family by his side. He leaves to mourn his wife, Roberta; daughter, Jacqueline (Chris); and treasured grandsons, Jacob and Owen. He is also survived by his father, Henry Dahl; his siblings, Henry (Elaine), Helene (Eric), Irmgard (Willy), Erwin, and Hildy (Michael); as well as many nieces and nephews. Helmut was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Monica, and mother, Lina Dahl. Born in Volendam, Paraguay, Helmut immigrated to Winnipeg, Manitoba with his family in 1960. Though he resided in various places throughout his life, his heart always remained in Winnipeg.
Helmut began his career as an electrician, which eventually led to the establishment of Dahl Homes Ltd, a home building company. Following a move to British Columbia, Helmut transitioned into a successful career in real estate.
A passionate golfer, Helmut cherished spending his winters in Arizona, enjoying rounds on some of his favourite courses. He was also an avid hockey fan and a lifelong supporter of the Toronto Maple Leafs. In his younger years, he played as a goaltender for the St. James Canadians, and later in life, he took great pride in watching his grandsons play hockey as a devoted Opa.
Helmut will be deeply missed for his sharp sense of humour, unwavering positivity, candid nature, and larger-than-life presence.
He spent his final days at the Melville Hospice, under the compassionate care of its exceptional staff and volunteers. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the kindness and support shown during this time. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Helmut's memory to the Melville Hospice Home. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
