KESSLER, Horst G.

White Rock lost a well know businessman October 4 with the passing of Horst Kessler. He leaves wife Monika, daughter Angelika, son Markus and grandchildren.

Horst was born December 25, 1937 in Schwetzinger, Germany. He trained as a machinist and mechanic in Germany. Immigrating to Canada, he worked first as a machinist, then as a mechanic, advancing to Service Manager at Wetmore Motors in West Vancouver. He went on to start his own VW repair service and then a VW Dealership in 1995 and started another VW repair shop in Cloverdale with son Markus.

Horst was known to many, not only through his business, but also through the world of soccer, active first as a player, then as a coach for a number of junior teams. During dealership days, his friends could often be found at his business on Saturdays, repairing older vehicles under his watchful eye. Horst, when working rebuilding the old air cooled VW Motors "with feeling", would be listening to classical music and giving a commentary on various political, financial and automotive matters. He will be deeply missed by many. At his request, a celebration of his life is planned at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family thanks you for a donation to the Peace Arch Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
