February 27, 1941 - February 11, 2022
On Friday, February 11, 2022 our beloved Ian passed away, just a few weeks short of his 81st birthday.
He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his partner of 32 years, Joan Kloss, brother Doug (Carol), nephews Brad (Tracy) and Greg (Tamara) and their children, brother-in-law Jim Galer (Ann) and the many, many friends he had made over the years.
Ian was born in Montreal and later lived in Toronto before moving to Vancouver in 1988. His career spanned teaching, publishing, and management services, culminating in the role of Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Arvak Management Inc.
Ian was an excellent leader and a wonderful, caring, welcoming person. He lived life to the fullest. He loved boating, dogs, music, cruise travel and good times with friends and family.
He touched the lives of many with his wit, warmth, and compassion and could reduce an audience to stitches with his amazing ability to tell a good joke.
In his retirement years Ian focussed on giving back to the community and helping others. He was an active member of the Rotary Club of White Rock serving as its president in 2011- 2012. He was also a founding member of the children's charity REC for Kids serving as its president for a few years and then as a director of the organization. He continued to work tirelessly on its behalf despite his increasing health struggles.
A donation in Ian's name to REC for Kids Society, the Rotary Club of White Rock or to a children's charity of your choice would be a wonderful tribute to his life.
A celebration of his life will be planned.
