With the love of her family, Mom passed away peacefully after a long journey with Alzheimer's disease and Multiple Myeloma.
Mom was predeceased by our father, Ed, after 58 years of marriage.
She is survived by daughters Liz, Sandra (Steve), and Cheryl (Tom); her grandchildren Brit (Basil) and Spencer (Rebekah); great grandsons Pi, Awhi and Koa; and her sister Florence.
Mom was born and raised in Brandon, Manitoba. After attending university, she began her working life as a social worker. Later, she became a small business owner, then "for fun", a Marriage Officiant. Mom valued service and was well-known for her involvement with The United church and community activities.
If someone needed help, Mom was there. Our home was open to all and often included new faces around the table on holidays; faces that didn't stay new for long, but became part of a larger extended family.
Mom had some lesser-known loves: chasing down a bargain at a warehouse sale, horseback riding at Watch Lake, reading voraciously, gin, basking like a seal in the sunshine - especially in Hawaii, walking her grand-dogs, the colour red and the ocean just to name but a few.
Her Christmas shortbread cookies, addictive cinnamon buns and sweet dinner rolls will be missed by all.
A memorial tea was held in her honour with immediate family in attendance.
In lieu of flowers donations may be directed to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
