Jack Bernard MURCH

MURCH, Jack Bernard - beloved husband of Molly for 54 years, passed away peacefully on February 17th at the age of 84 at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, British Columbia.

He was a devoted and loving father to Angie (Pat) Hamilton and Liz (Pierre) Leroux, Grandfather to Chris, Steve and Dave, Leslie, Phil (Suji), Danielle and Devon and Great Grandfather to James, Darian and Taylor.

He was born in 1921 and raised in Liverpool, England. He served two years in the British Army during World War II in the South Asia Command as Chief Technical Instructor at Signals Training School followed by duty in India during hostilities. He then joined Phoenix

Assurance in London, England in the Overseas Department and three years later promoted to Fire Superintendent for Canada as Ontario Branch Manager. His exemplary career of 40 years led to his appointment as President & CEO of

Phoenix Assurance Co./Continental. He also devoted his time and energy voluntarily to the Serra Club and Catholic Family Services in Toronto and to his parishes especially Blessed Trinity in Willowdale. In 1995, Jack and Molly retired to White Rock, B.C. to be closer to family.

He was deeply loved and will be sadly missed by all. Through his deep faith and combined strength, gentleness and wisdom he provided leadership and guidance to all his family, friends and colleagues.

Prayers to be offered at Good Shepherd Church, South Surrey Feb. 22 at 3:00 p.m. to be followed by Mass and Christian Burial Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity.
