WALTER JAHNKE 1931 - 2007
Walter died peacefully in the Palliative Care unit at Peace Arch Hospital on Saturday, April 14th.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Patricia, his cherished children Drusilla and Daryl and his grandchildren Hazel, Liv and Ben who made him very proud of their accomplishments. He was chair of the Strata Council twice and served on the boards of the White Rock & South Surrey Naturalists and TALK - Third Age Learning at Kwantlen for which he also facilitated many programs. Earlier in his retirement he and Patricia developed an education program at the Orphaned Wildlife Refuge and coordinated volunteers at the Naturalist's Information Centre at Beecher Place where they made many friends and had wonderful adventures.
Walter exemplified his belief that you make a living by what you earn and a life by what you give. He will be remembered lovingly for his warm smile, his intelligence and humour and his readiness to help others. He will be profoundly missed. Flowers gratefully declined.
