James Robert Rettie

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Robert Rettie born July 3, 1913 in Winnipeg, MB, died August 12, 2004 in White Rock, BC.

Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Catherine (Kae) Rettie.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Brenda MacKenzie (Malcolm) and Ross Rettie (Dianne); grandchildren; Karen Graham (Tom), Erin Gagner (Jamie), Marion Murray (Paul) and Craig Rettie (Allison); great grandson Hugh Graham; and special friend Sheila Herbert.

Jim was a Professional Engineer, graduating in 1935 from the University of Manitoba.

He spent most of his working career in Manitoba, initially with the Province of Manitoba, Department of Mines and Natural Resources, the Manitoba Hydro-Electric Board and then Manitoba Hydro. With Manitoba Hydro, Jim was Director of Engineering and was responsible for design and construction of many thermal and hydro power generation projects. After retiring in B.C. in 1966, Jim undertook projects advising the court and conducting arbitrations. He was a life member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C., and the YMCA in Vancouver.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday August 18, 2004 at Benediction Lutheran Church, 5575 - 6th Ave., Tsawwassen at 1:30 pm.
