LAUER, Janine Amanda. May 26, 1957 -
August 29, 2011. It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Janine after a long and courageous battle with kidney cancer. She passed away August 29th at home in White Rock surrounded by loving family and friends. Janine was born in Humboltd, Saskatchewan to her parents Bernadette and Leander Lauer and the family moved to the west coast when she was 1. She attended Queen Elizabeth High School in Surrey and then completed an Honours Program in Human Resources at BCIT and began her career in Human Resources Management at Simon Fraser University in 1980. She completed her Masters of Business Administration degree at SFU in 1994 and continued to devote her efforts to Labour Relations at the University as a Contract Administrator, Manager of Employee Relations and most recently as Director of HR Advisory Services.
Janine loved to travel and felt a strong affinity to France, with Paris running a close second to Vancouver as her favourite world city and the old village of Antibe on the French Riviera coming in third. Janine had recently taken up watercolour painting and had begun to chronicle some of her recent travel adventures. She surrounded herself with family and friends who shared her zest for life. Janine will always be remembered by her very large and loving family. A Visitation will be held Thursday, Sept. 1st at 7:00pm - 9:00pm at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 28 Avenue, Surrey, followed by Funeral Services on Friday Sept. 2nd at 11:00am.
