MARVEL - Jay Neal

Neal passed away peacefully on October 31, 2006. Neal is survived by his wife June of 56 years, daughter Brenda, son Bill (Laura) and grandson Andrew, sisters Betty and Jean (Doug) and brother Lorne (Betsy) and many nieces and nephews. Born in Indian Head, Saskatchewan, April 2, 1923, Neal grew up in Swift Current, Saskatchewan. After graduating from high school he joined the Royal Bank and in 1942 the Royal Canadian Air Force, training in radar in Canada and the United States before going to England on active duty. After the war Neal re-joined the Royal Bank and was their bank manager in many towns in Saskatchewan before being transferred to their Montreal head office in 1963. In 1981 Neal and June retired to the White Rock, B.C. area. He continued to do volunteer work with Meals on Wheels, Big Brothers, United Church, in politics and the Probus Club. Neal's greatest joy was his Men's Club of a dozen retired men who became good friends. They met once a month for over 18 years and were hosted by their wives in their homes. Neal loved to recount how he started and managed his own successful income tax business for several years. The family appreciated the kindness and care Neal received at the Evergreen Baptist Home. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Presbyterian Church, White Rock, B.C. at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 8, 2006. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation to your favorite charity in remembrance of Neal.
