Jean Coyne passed away at her home in White Rock on July 5, 2019 after a long illness bravely endured. Born in Moose Jaw, Sask., Jean moved to White Rock with her family in 1957. She was a long time employee at Peace Arch Hospital, first as a nurse's aide and later as an activity coordinator in the Berkeley Extended Care Facility. Jean was the first driver of the residents' bus donated by White Rock Lions Club. She was a member of one of the early hospital auxiliary groups and sang over the years in both church and community choirs. Jean was a long time and active worker for the Association for the Protection of Fur-Bearing Animals. Jean will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit and as a gracious hostess for various civic, corporate and hospital events over several decades. She is survived by Vin, her loving husband of nearly 60 years, children Bill (Gerri), Cathy (Barry), David (Jessica), brothers Frank Walters (Shirley), Bill Walters (Pat), sisters Joyce (David) Primrose and Margaret Walden as well as a large extended family. Special thanks to Dr. Werner Spangehl and the staff of George Street Family Practice, White Rock Harmony House, and her devoted caregivers Gemma , Myra, Violeta, Gail, Kristine, Glecy, and Anna. Donations in Jean's name to either Peace Arch Hospital Foundation, 15521 Russell Avenue, White Rock V4B 2R4 or the Fur-Bearers Association, Suite 701, 718-333 Brooksbank Ave, North Vancouver, V7J 3V8 would be appreciated.
