Jean was born in Liverpool, England to Minnie and Henry Byles. She lived in England until 1957 when she immigrated to Canada with her Mom, sister and first husband.

Jean lived in Edmonton from 1957 to 1972. She worked in a stationary store before stopping to raise three beautiful children.

She forged many friendships in Edmonton and kept those friendships throughout her life.

Jean moved to BC in 1972. Ever community minded, she immersed herself into her surroundings. To call Jean a social butterfly would be an understatement.

She joined lionettes, sorority, toast masters and the bowling league. She signed up for belly dancing, river dancing and yoga. She played tennis and golf. She canoed. Jean was up for trying almost anything. The parties she hosted over the years are legendary.

Jean married her second husband Bill in 1987 and gained a loving second family.

She worked for many years at the Peace Arch Co-ordinating Center and Peace Portal Golf Club

Jean's passion was walking along White Rock beach looking out at the sparkling water which she called her diamonds. She always outshone them.

Predeceased by her parents and husband Bill. Survived by sister Brenda. Children Dave (Lisa), Simon, Hilary (Robert)

Step children Ron (Diane), Wendy (Doug), Dennis (Jennifer) and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews
