Jessie Kathleen CHESTNUT

November 6, 2007

CHESTNUT, Jessie Kathleen

(Marquis)

Passed away at Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, BC on Nov 6, 2007, age 93. Born in Winnipeg, Jan 11, 1914, she grew up in Rainy River, Ontario. While nursing in Winnipeg in 1946 she met Harold, a physician, who had just returned from overseas. They married and moved to Moosomin, Sask. where Harold joined his father's medical practice. Jessie and Harold moved to White Rock in 1971.

Jessie was always an active member of her community including the Catholic Women's League, the Hospital Auxiliary and the Superfluity Store where she particularly enjoyed working in the "boutique". She also enjoyed traveling with Harold to many parts of the world.

Jessie had a joy of life without regrets. She had a unique, friendly, curious style with a sense of humour that gave warmth to those who she met. Jessie is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, friend and generous hostess who prepared and presented the most wonderful meals. She never hesitated to help those in need whether in sickness or unfortunate circumstances.

She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Pamela (Rodger), son Bill (Donna) and grandsons Anthony, Brendan, Harold, Mark (Denise), Ryan and great granddaughter Hannah.

Thank you to the staff of Peace Portal Lodge who gave loving care to Jessie for the past 6 years and to Dr. L. Darby and the staff of Peace Arch hospital.

A funeral mass will be held at Star of the Sea, 1153 Fir Street, White Rock on Tuesday, Nov 19 at 9 am.
