Passed away in Peace Arch Hospital on Feburary 8, 2003 after a short battle with cancer, with Mel, her husband of 58 years, by her side. She is survived by her husband, George Melvin, 2 sons, David (Louise) of North Vancouver, Lorne (Suzanne) of Coquitlam, a daughter Pam (Garth) McLeod of Fernie, 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Joan was an active member of the Greater Vancouver Warbrides Association, the Semiahmoo Trefoil Guild and an Honorary Life Member of the Girl Guides of Canada. Joan, who will be sadly missed, will live on in our memories, and the joy of those remembrances will help us get through tomorrow.
