John Robertson Chalcraft

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Robertson Chalcraft on August 19, 2023. John was born in Calgary, Alberta on November 5, 1946 and spent his childhood in England, Comox, British Columbia, Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador and France while his father served in the Canadian Air Force.
John's childhood led to a lifelong interest in travel and history, particularly the great world wars. John was in the first graduating class at Simon Fraser University and eventually settled in White Rock, British Columbia in his father's home where he raised his own family. His light-hearted and gentle manner will be forever missed.
John will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 38 years, Jean, his sons, Daniel, Christopher (Natalie) and Tristan (Adriana) and his sister, Donna Aubuchon. John's most cherished role was as grandfather to Elodie, Margot and Flora, whom he lovingly referred to as the "little girls".
We are eternally grateful that John was able to meet his youngest granddaughter, Flora, who was born in May.
John was predeceased by his father, William and mother, Joan.
Cremation will precede a celebration of John's life to be held at St. John's Presbyterian Church in White Rock on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Dale Woods leading the service.
A reception at the church will follow. We invite John's friends to attend.
