August 3, 1927 - August 8, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Joy Irene Lambeth. Born August 3rd, 1927 in Wolverhampton, England. Passed on August 8th, 2024.
Joy had a difficult start in life. At 3 yrs old, Joy's mother died. Passed from relative to relative until her teenage years. Joy never really felt the love of a mother.
In the UK, during Joy's early working years in a dress shop, she met James Lambeth, a butcher and fell in love. They were married in 1947. Joy was predeceased by James in 1990, after 43 years of marriage. Jim and Joy with 2 children emigrated to Vancouver, Canada in 1962.
A third child was born in Canada.
Joy was an avid volunteer beginning in the 1970's, with CNIB bowling leagues at the Commodore Lanes, later with the church Lunch Hut in White Rock. Joy also helped with ticket sales for Therapeutic Riding in Powell River, BC.
Mom will be forever missed by her 3 children. Derek, Sharon (Anthony) and Gary (Anji). Granma will be remembered dearly by her 4 granddaughters, Nicolette, Merissa (Derek), Ayla and Hilary. Joy always mourned for her grandson Trever.
Great-grandchildren, Olivia, Xander, Griffin, Elliot and Adalina will miss Granma Joy.
In White Rock, BC, sister-in-law Evelyn, great niece Amy (Albert and Danielle), close friends Pat and Joe, and other dear friends who accepted Joy as family and will remember Mom as "a beacon of light that lived up to her name."
Joy moved to Powell River, BC to be closer to family. She met some old and new friends at church and in the community. We will always be grateful to Mom's friends who welcomed her.
Over the years, Joy enjoyed, painting, calligraphy and knitting for the grandchildren. Joy loved life and loved people. By request, a family gathering will be honored.
May God Bless You Mom, and keep you safe in His loving care.
