It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, Kathy McIntyre, age 71, on Saturday, July 8, 2023. She was born on March 14, 1952 in Vancouver, B.C.
Kathy leaves behind 10 siblings: Peter (Gayle), Michael (Gail), Mary (Chris), Paul (Tami), Anne (Daryl), Maureen (Terry), Stephen (Paddy), Phillip (Jenn), Trish (Paul), Chuck (Colleen). She was a loving auntie to 22 nieces and nephews and 12 great-nieces and great-nephews. She is predeceased by her parents Ken and Marie McEwan.
During Kathy's long career in nursing, she worked in multiple departments and hospitals. However, her true passion was working at B.C. Children's Hospital on C3 and in the Gastroenterology Unit. She continually strived to maintain a loving and compassionate approach with all her patients and colleagues.
In her retirement, she looked forward to the never-ending Sundays that retirement brought. She loved gardening, walking, cycling, spending time with friends and family and summer months at her lakeside home away from home.
She cherished both her family and friends and will always be remembered for having a warm, thoughtful and kind-hearted outlook on life. She lived by her favourite quote, "Never look down on anybody unless you are lifting them up." This was clearly evident in her everyday life.
The family has gathered privately to celebrate her life.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
