October 15, 1940 - July 1, 2024
Lawrence (Larry) Walter Karp passed away peacefully at home on July 1, 2024, in White Rock, BC. Larry was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on October 15, 1940. He was the only child of Cassie and Walter Karp.
Larry grew up in Winnipeg and attended Churchill High School, where he played various sports and was offered a scholarship to attend university in North Carolina for basketball. He chose instead to accept a position working for International Nickel in Northern Manitoba and built a rich life with his love Vivian.
Larry took great pleasure in his love of fishing, cottaging, boating and spending time with family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, loyal to the Minnesota Vikings.
An entrepreneur at heart, he was an owner/ operator of several businesses, including Karp Explosives (Burlington, ON) and Measure Masters (White Rock, BC), before retiring in 2009. He also taught an explosives and blasting training course at Flemming College in Peterborough, Ontario.
Larry leaves behind his beloved wife Vivian, his daughter Joy O'Loughlin (Patrick), his son David Karp (Michele) and his grandchildren Lindsay O'Loughlin, Conor O'Loughlin (predeceased May 18, 2024) and John (Jack) Karp.
