Watkins, Lawrence A., OMM, CD Hon Col (ret)January 1934 - May 2014. Larry peacefully closed his eyes and left us on May 13, 2014 with his loving wife and soul mate Lorna holding his hand. Missing him are his children, Laurie (Allen), Will (Barbara), Lyle (Karen), seven wonderful grandchildren, two adorable great grandchildren and one in our hearts. Staying true to his strong and dedicated character, he used his short 3 weeks "notice" to address that which was most important to him……the well being of his family and friends, and the continuity of his wonderful CF Museum at 12 SVC Bn. He was a director of the Unit's museum for many interesting years and this brought him great joy. Larry made a significant contribution to the Reserve Army where he earned the respect of colleagues and made lifelong friends around the world. His service and dedication to the military spanned over 54 years. He was extremely proud to be a Canadian. In retirement Larry traveled the country enjoying his motor home and his RV lifestyle and friends. His exceptional memory and passion for history, music, travel and archaeology could always be counted on for lively discussions and enlightenment. Celebration of Larry's life is to be held at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre, 14831 - 28 Ave, Surrey, BC on May 30th at 11:00 AM. No Flowers by request - The family would ask in lieu of flowers for those who wish, a donation to the charity of your choice be made in Larry's name.
