December 29, 1949 - July 20, 2024
We are grieving the loss of Leo, a gentle man with a generous spirit, who always saw the best in everyone. He will be deeply missed by his wife Gail and his sister Joyce Baarts (Ib) and was predeceased by sisters Diane Doering (Don) and Eileen Anderson.
Born to Sidney and Clara Molyneaux as the loving brother of three older sisters on Fulton Avenue in Burnaby, Leo knew the neighbours by their cars if not always by their names. From high school on, Leo was the guy with the "cool ride". He graduated from Burnaby South and continued his love of cars by starting his career in the Auto Glass industry. As a journeyman glazier, he worked at Central Auto Glass, Poco Glass, Trans-Canada Glass, and was manager of Speedy Glass in White Rock. Even after his retirement he worked part-time at White Rock Glass & Broco Glass.
As young men, Leo and his cousin Graham Knibb shared a passion for cars and spent good times working on their vehicles and taking trips to Hawaii. Leo and Graham worked side by side for seven years after they established Master Glass in Fleetwood.
Leo loved living in the 146 Street community and always enjoyed visiting with neighbours and making them laugh. He also watched out for any problems in the area, being sure to contact authorities to report whatever required attention or repair.
Leo loved collector cars, and relished the experience of warm summer days, driving with his arm on the frame of the open window, listening to Elvis. One might have seen Leo in the quiet of the morning driving down to the White Rock shore where he parked by the beach to enjoy his coffee and Province newspaper. On Thursday nights he enjoyed chatting with his buddies over coffee and cookies at Chapman's garage. Friday nights were often spent at the Langley A&W, Mr. Hamburger, Java Hut or Tim Hortons where he met with friends and checked out everyone's ride. His best day was hearing the auctioneer's hammer at Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale when he bought his beautiful 1956 Chevy. Leo's very best friend and car buddy was Pat Bolton.
But Leo's true love was Gail, his wife of 25 years, and he was forever grateful to Gail for helping him check all the boxes on his bucket list. Together they travelled to Mexico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Graceland, UK, and Scottsdale (annual Barrett Jackson Auction), always accompanied by their cherished Shih Tzu's, Duffy & Duffy II.
Leo was a happy man who never imagined he would have such a blessed life.
