Lilian passed away peacefully at Peace Arch Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Pre-deceased by her husband Albert Joseph Melanson in 1955, her second husband Lawrence George Kehl in 1966 and son Robert Albert Melanson in 2003. She is survived by her son Stephen Melanson (Irma); grandsons Carl Melanson & Timothy Melanson and great granddaughter Lily Melanson; her younger sister Dorothy Slocombe and nephew Peter and niece Gloria, who reside in England. After retiring Lilian continued her activities with the Ladies Auxiliary to the Canadian Legion, Branch 530, Waterloo, Ontario, Branch 88, Maple Ridge, BC, and branch 240, Crescent Beach, Surrey, BC. She recently received recognition for 50 Years of Auxiliary Service. In addition to the Ladies Auxiliary she was highly involved in Volunteering within the various communities that she lived. The most memorable of the many awards for Volunteer activities was in 1996 when she was presented the Senior Achievement Award by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. While living in Kitchener she filled her "spare" time as a Tour Host with Great Canadian Holidays & Coaches resulting in extensive travel throughout Canada and the U.S. A celebration of Lilian's life will be held at Branch 240, Royal Canadian Legion (Crescent Beach), 2643 128th St., Surrey, BC on Saturday, September 13, 2014 between the hours of 1-3 p.m. R.S.V.P. to Stephen Melanson, 604-531-6041 or email:
